Day 2: Surgery

Brinley had surgery yesterday afternoon.  They inserted a central access line called a port in her chest which allows all her medication and fluids to be inserted without having to poke her over and over again with needles through an IV. Also during surgery, they took out spinal fluid in her back to check and see if there were any cancerous cells. The test results came out negative so we are very happy about that. They also checked the genetic of the cancer by taking out bone marrow from her hip. These test results will help the doctors know how to fight off this cancer. Lastly, they did their first Chemotherapy treatment in the spine to prevent the cancer from growing there.

Surgery and everything went perfectly. She is recovering well. She is staying strong. She keeps busy with all the wonderful gifts she has been given. Coloring is her new favorite hobby; she can color for hours. And she is loving her room service, all the Mac & Cheese she could ever wish for. I'm not kidding, every meal every day. :) Keep praying for her as we start another Chemotherapy treatment today. Thank you for all your love and support.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TJ! We love you! :)

She loves to ride her little bike around. Yesterday her ANC (her ability to fight infection) was at a 700. When it goes under 1,000 her ability to fight off infection decreases to almost nothing. That's why she is wearing that little mask.

She loves her daddy.

And her mommy! ❤️

Mommy got to ride on the bed with Brinley to the surgery room. It was a fun ride!

I will post a photo of the port in her chest later today.
